Welcome to Cloudland!

This little world is still under construction, so explore around and check back soon for new stuff.

This is a no AI zone, all the artwork, writing and coding here is done through human effort, stubbornness and dumb luck (also plain dumbness). Enjoy your stay! :)

About Cloudland

Cloudland is an interactive collection of my artwork, and a love letter to the weird and wonderful personal websites of the ancient internet. :) It is an ever-changing, ever expanding exercise in whimsical world building that is coming together bit by bit through paint, pixel and paper maché.

I'm choosing to create this place so I can maintain control and ownership of my creations, and so I can offer a way for people to experience my work in a way that is as close to how it was meant to be experienced as I can do online (most art really is meant to be experienced first hand in real life, but we do what we can to widen the scope of who can experience these things).

I want you to see my artwork in a large screen rather than on your phone, I want to encourage exploration and curiosity by (hopefully) creating a little world that one can spend time getting to know, and come back to again and again to find new things. I want it to engage you, really engage you, not just for a split second before scrolling on to whatever insta or tiktok has decided you should see next. I want it to feel like what being online used to feel like, what I remember it felt like when i was a kid exploring all those weird, wacky and wonderful personal websites that feel so much rarer nowadays.

Away from bad algorithms, from ai slop, from obnoxious and increasingly invasive advertising, away from the social media grifters and soulless corporations using artist's work to increase their bottom line.

And yea, I must admit my own attention span isn't what it used to be, but working on this site is already helping me slow down a bit, put down the apps and engage with things in a deeper way again, I'm feeling more and more inspired to keep pursuing ways to engage with and enjoy art, books, films, and the web the way I used to before it all got so fast and so boring, and damn did I miss that. So here's hoping exploring cloudland can do something similar for you, maybe even inspire you to put more art in the world, or create your own little corner of the internet.
